“If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously without finding fault, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5)
That passage from God’s Word informed our Vacation Bible School this week. “Saddle Ridge Ranch—where children discover God’s Word has the answers to all their questions” was the theme for an amazing week of learning about God—and meeting with God!
On Thursday morning, the older children and I gathered to talk together about meeting God personally. As we “rounded up questions about becoming a Christian,” the boys and girls responded in a number of ways:
“I’ve found the answer!” Yes, I prayed and asked Jesus to be my Savior and Lord—I’d like to talk to someone about what to do next.
“I’ve got questions.” I would like some more information about how to trust Jesus.
“I knew the answer already.” I’ve already trusted Jesus and I’ve been baptized.
“I’m not ready.” I’ve heard what was said, but I’m not ready to make a decision yet about accepting Jesus as my Savior and Lord.
How do YOU respond to the truth that turning to God through trusting in Jesus is the way to know God personally? If you’d like to talk about it, there is nothing I would enjoy more! Call me at (972)424-8551 or email me at jerryc@fbcplano.org and we’ll get together to find answers from God’s Word. After all, “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”
Our children were busy putting their faith into action this week, which should also please Brother James, the pastor at First Baptist, Jerusalem, as much as it pleases me. Their sacrificial giving and serving provided backpacks, school supplies, shoe gift cards, and quilts to be shared with needy children and teenagers through the Plano Children’s Medical Clinic, the Greater Restoration Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York, and City House, a refuge for teenage runaways here in Plano.
I know you are as proud as I am of our boys and girls. Many, many student and adult leaders spent this week serving tirelessly. I am grateful to God for Debbie Parker and the leadership she provides.
Pray for God’s continued work in the lives of children—of every age!
I’m proud to be your pastor,
Jerry
