I found you in the Scriptures again! In 2 Corinthians 9, Paul writes about faithful Christian stewardship:
“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” (vv. 6-7)
In spite of a challenging financial climate that could have been an excuse for hesitant giving, you took God at His word, First Baptist Church of Plano! Because of your faithful stewardship - and your staff’s diligent leadership - we reached the end of 2009 with $23,647 more in budget receipts than expenses.
Paul continues “reading our mail”:
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (v. 8)
In addition to your faithful budget gifts, God led you to give toward our annual missions offering and you responded—
-for Texas Baptists MH Davis $ 9,361
-for Baptist World Alliance 5,367
-for Cooperative Baptist Fellowship 7,840
-for Mission to Unreached Peoples 24,590
-for Southern Baptist Convention 15,177
-for Texas Baptists World Hunger 9,424
The 2009 FBCP Missions offering total? $71,759!
“You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” (v. 11)
The Haiti earthquake has captured our hearts and you have responded already with gifts of $14,205 to meet the needs of the survivors in Jesus’ name. In addition, your continued support of the extended ministries of our Baptist family has gotten the world’s attention. Check it out at http://www.fbcplano.org/mission-haiti.
“This ministry that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” (v. 12)
I’m proud to be your pastor,
Jerry
