What is God doing in His world?

At the turn of the millennium, believers in South Africa sensed God calling them to seek Him in repentance and prayer and to call people across their country to assemble in united prayer for their cities and nations. It was a call for repentance and prayer.

Soon, gatherings like it - all meeting on the same day of the year - multiplied across Africa, and in the years that followed, all over the world. The result was the first Global Day of Prayer on Pentecost Sunday in 2005.

God is at work across the face of the earth. Many millions from almost every stream of Christian faith have gathered to answer the same call for repentance and prayer in the years that followed. The movement continues to spread and to deepen, packing large stadiums, filling homes with small groups, spilling out to the open squares of small villages, surging around the clock and uniting many churches in prayer for Christ’s greater glory and the blessing of all nations.

What is God doing in First Baptist Church of Plano?

This Pentecost, we will experience worship in new and fresh ways as we ask God to speak to us through the second chapter of Acts - that we might follow Jesus and be empowered by His Spirit to be His witnesses. On Sunday, May 23, Christians around the world will celebrate Pentecost, commemorating the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the followers of Jesus. His followers were transformed and they were His witnesses!

As an act of worship on May 23, we will share “A Prayer for the World” that will be prayed by Jesus’ followers all over the planet that day. We need to prepare our hearts to receive God’s outpouring that day. If you would like to join me in Ten Days of Prayer for the glory of Christ and the blessing of the nations, let me know and I’ll email you a devotional prompt each day, beginning May 13.

There is no substitute for prayer . . . let’s do it - together!
