Ed Meath, Administrator

Ed MeatrhEd Meath serves FBC Plano as business administrator. He has served in that position since 2000. Ed oversees the business and facilities portion of ministry.

A native of Tacoma, Washington, Ed spent 42 years in the retail business before entering his “second career” at FBC Plano.

Ed and his wife Midge have five children, 11 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson.

Doug Mogan, Minister of Music

Doug MoganDoug Mogan serves First Baptist Church of Plano as Minister of Music. He has been in that role for 25 years. The Music Ministry at FBC Plano includes vocal and instrumental music for ages 3 through adult. The Music Ministry enjoys leading worship services, presenting concerts, and mission trips.

Doug is a native of Kansas and holds degrees from Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Seminary.

Doug enjoys golf, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, and cheering for the OU Sooners.

Doug and his wife Teresa have two children and one grandchild.

Debbie Parker, Minister to Children

Debbie ParkerDebbie joined First Baptist in July of 1988. Debbie is responsible for all aspects of children's ministries, from babies through 6th grade. She also serves as MDO Director.

Debbie has a Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University. She has a Leadership Certificate in Childhood and Weekday Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a Masters in Christian Education from Dallas Baptist University.

Debbie has three children: Benjamin, Matthew and Ashlea, son-in-law Zachary, and granddaughter Baylea.

Erika Parks, Missionary in Residence

Erika Parks serves on the Mission to Unreached Peoples global leadership team.  Along with husband Kent, she served in SEAsia almost 20 years, working mainly as Strategy Coordinators among Unreached People Groups and in helping develop trans-national, trans-denominational UPG ministry networks at various levels including“people-specific,” nationwide and region-wide.  

Erika has served as Cultural Adaptation Coordinator, MK Education Coordinator, and Prayer Facilitator, among other roles. She often leads seminars on serving “oral-preference” learners by using Chronological Storying of Scripture.

Kent and Erika have two daughters (one in college and one in graduate school).

Dr. Kent Parks, Missionary in Residence

Dr. Kent Parks, President & CEO of Mission to Unreached Peoples, served in SEAsia almost 20 years, working mainly as Strategy Coordinator among Unreached People Groups and in helping develop trans-national, trans-denominational UPG ministry networks at various levels including“people-specific,” nationwide and region-wide. He served seven years as a Texas Baptist pastor before serving in SEAsia as a seminary professor (Ph.D. in Missiology).  

He serves as Co-Facilitator for the Ethnê Global UPG Initiative (www.ethne.net) and is also the Lausanne Committee on World Evangelization Senior Associate for Least Reached Peoples and a World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission (http://www.worldevangelicals.org/commissions/mc/) Mission Associate.

Kent and wife Erika have two daughters (one in college and one in graduate school).

Tommy Shumate, Minister of Education

Tommy ShumateTommy Shumate has been on staff at First Baptist Church since October 2008. He leads the educational ministries of the church, including Sunday morning Bible studies, small groups, discipleship, and outreach. Additionally, he coordinates Men’s and Women’s ministries and promotional/publicity materials. Since 1983, he has served churches in Richardson, Lewisville, Plano, and Decatur, Texas.

Tommy is a native of Jackson, Mississippi, where he earned the Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Belhaven College; the Master of Arts degree in Religious Education from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth; and completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education through Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas.

Tommy enjoys all sports…especially running, golf, tennis, and racquetball; cheering the OU Sooners; movies; and reading.

Tommy has been married to Melissa since 1982. Their daughter, Abby, a Baylor University graduate, is a nurse at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas; and their son, Alex, completed his Masters degree at Oklahoma University and works for an advertising agency in Dallas.
