Thank you for your interest in our wonderful Parent's Day Out program (PDO). Each child is a unique and cherished gift from the Lord. It is a blessing and our privilege to teach them and guide them as they grow in God's love.

Tuesdays and Thursdays from September through May are filled with laughter and learning from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Plano Parent’s Day Out. Our Christian teachers are trained and CPR certified. It is our goal to provide a Christian at-mosphere for each child to promote spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. We strive to provide a wide range of activities with a multi-sensory, developmentally appro-priate approach to promote the optimal learning environment for children.

Our curriculum will be based on monthly biblical themes and verses which will be supported by the developmentally appropriate activities in the classrooms. We also will have a Music and Movement class each day to promote further learning situations, and where children will experience singing, and movement to enhance the learning situation. First Baptist Plano Parent’s Day Out program is for infants through Pre-Kindergarten.

PDO CURRICULUM

Daily Lessons

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Matthew 13:15: “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.”

Teachers will implement monthly themes for children (i.e. October’s theme
will be Heroes of the Bible: David, Joshua, etc.) with the understanding of
how and when a child develops depending upon which classroom the child
is in. With the curriculum, the teacher will provide your child with a positive
learning experience through a multi-sensory, center approach.

Each classroom will be set up and follow teaching strategies as set up by
the State of Texas Early Childhood and Pre-Kindergarten guidelines. Children will be allowed to explore and learn academically with age appropriate lessons in a center-based learning environment which will focus on arts and crafts, homeliving, puzzles, manipulatives, fine motor and gross
motor activities as set up by each teacher.

Music and Movement

Children will attend a Music and Movement class each week. During this time, they will learn age-appropriate songs, and play rhythm and other instruments. Songs learned in Music are designed to enhance the learning of the classroom units. Movement activities help develop large and small motor groups important for every child's muscular development and to further promote coordination and socialization skills.

Chapel

Chapel time is held every Tuesday for the Three and Four-year-olds and PreKindergarteners. It lasts for approximately 15 minutes. During Chapel, children will hear Bible truths taught by loving teachers. Children are encouraged to sing and to learn Bible thoughts and stories, such as "God loves me". The Bible truths are age-appropriate and parallel a child's concrete thinking capabilities. All classes use these Bible truths in their daily teachings.

Teachers have a degree/certificate or equivalent life work experience. Weekly lesson plans are implemented using monthly bible themes and focus on developmentally appropriate learning milestones for each individual child. Each staff member must have at least 3-5 years of teaching experience and a firm knowledge of child development. PDO teachers will receive at least 7.5 years of training each year. All teachers are CPR/First Aid certified.
