Puentes de Dios Progress Report 11-4-09

The Puentes de Dios project has been going on in our church now for approximately six months.  It is time to show you some results of your giving.

Please look at the spreadsheet.  You can also find it on our church website.  Note that a number of projects have been completely funded, and monies have been sent to Mexico to get those projects done in the field.  The website has some slides that show one of the projects completed (Chiapas #1).  Wayne and Buena Stevenson recently returned from this location and observed sixteen people from this church that were being baptized.  The church has grown dramatically.  God is at work, and you’ve not only had a part in this, but you have a stake in what continues to happen with the gospel there in Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Tabasco.

In response to our request, the BGCT just this week has had a team of theologians on-site in southern Mexico, providing spiritual training to local pastors in these three states.  At one location, forty-five pastors were gathered to take part in this educational opportunity.  Many of these pastors came at great difficulty.  We praise God for drawing these men and our BGCT theologians together to provide training in doctrine, discipleship, and evangelism.

Three VBS teams from our church will be going to the state of Oaxaca the day after Christmas to work with local churches in providing a quality vacation Bible school experience for children.  Debbie Parker is leading this and is really pumped about the curriculum that the BGCT has provided.   Your Missions Committee has made funds available to partially defray the expenses of those who go from our church.  There is great excitement as these teams prepare for this work, God’s work, there in Oaxaca.  Please be in prayer for our FBC missionaries who will be going and for those who will be attending the vacation Bible schools there.

There are still some projects that are not funded.  Look closely at the spreadsheet.  The bridge design is becoming a box culvert and should be designed soon, but monies will be needed for construction.  Spanish-language Bibles are needed.  Ten and fifteen-passenger vans are needed.  We have determined that it will be better to purchase the vans in Mexico rather than buy them here and face the taxes and expense of getting them to southern Mexico.  Funding is still needed for the vans.  Please continue to place these before the Lord, asking Him how you should help or continue to help.  Our church family has been given a true missionary opportunity there to meet needs, share the gospel, and glorify our Lord.  Let’s be sure that we don’t miss out on any of the blessings God has for us and for the folks in Chiapas, Oaxaca, and Tabasco that He is calling us to serve.

Let’s “git her done” as the saying goes.
