Thank you for your gracious response to the information shared last week regarding our church’s current financial situation:  giving is lower than planned and expenses (primarily due to emergency HVAC repairs) are higher.  Announcing the plan to reduce our spending for the remainder of the year has given each of us an opportunity to consider our own levels of giving to God’s work through our church operating budget.

What a joy to celebrate our graduating high school seniors!  As a congregation we gather to bless them and to rejoice in what God will do with these young men and women.  As I’ve been saying at FBC Plano since these graduates were beginning first grade, “All the students at our church are above average.”    With apologies to Garrison Keelor for borrowing his line, I simply believe it’s true!  Makes me wonder, “Who knows what the Lord will do through these young lives as they follow Him with all their hearts?”  You and I just never know—but the Lord knows perfectly.

Last Sunday’s “Morning at the Park” proved to be a wonderful experience as we gathered under the trees at Haggard Park to worship our God together.  I hope we do it again!  The day reminded us that the church is “people” who happen to meet in a “place.”  We have been “Called to the City”!

In Revelation 3:8, the Lord Jesus instructed John to give this message to the church in Philadelphia:

I have placed before you an open door . . ..

That invitation from the Lord Jesus has been extended to our congregation, as well!  These are days of incredible opportunity—open doors from Jesus for us to enter, to join Him in His work
