“Jesus says, “Pray because you have a Father in heaven,’” writes Oswald Chambers. What a fitting reminder for this Fathers’ Day weekend for the family of God!
What a joy to celebrate our graduating high school seniors! As a congregation we gather to bless them and to rejoice in what God will do with these young men and women. As I’ve been saying at FBC Plano since these graduates were beginning first grade, “All the students at our church are above average.” With apologies to Garrison Keelor for borrowing his line, I simply believe it’s true! Makes me wonder, “Who knows what the Lord will do through these young lives as they follow Him with all their hearts?” You and I just never know—but the Lord knows perfectly.
Last Sunday’s “Morning at the Park” proved to be a wonderful experience as we gathered under the trees at Haggard Park to worship our God together. I hope we do it again! The day reminded us that the church is “people” who happen to meet in a “place.” We have been “Called to the City”!
In Revelation 3:8, the Lord Jesus instructed John to give this message to the church in Philadelphia:
I have placed before you an open door . . ..
That invitation from the Lord Jesus has been extended to our congregation, as well! These are days of incredible opportunity—open doors from Jesus for us to enter, to join Him in His work
In recent days, one of my favorite “drive-by” sages posted the following on his business’ sign:
Behind every great man is a woman . . . rolling her eyes.
On this Mothers’ Day weekend, I’ll give that a bit of a twist:
Behind every successful child is a woman . . . holding her breath.
